Industries / Builders
Local search for builders.
Rank for renovation and extension work with real project evidence.
The situation
Building work is the longest consideration cycle of any trade. Nobody books an extension from a map pack at midnight. They search, browse photos, read reviews, check licences, shortlist three builders and then make contact weeks later.
That changes the weighting. The Google Business Profile still gets you discovered, but the website and the photo evidence do most of the persuading. This is the one trade where the site genuinely earns its place.
The other structural difference: builders compete on project type, not on suburb alone. 'Home extension builder' and 'knock down rebuild' are effectively separate markets.
How your customers search
- Searches happen over weeks — the same person returns to your profile several times before enquiring.
- Photo browsing is heavier than any other trade; profiles with fewer than 20 project photos are routinely skipped.
- Licence verification is common — the NSW builder licence number is checked before contact.
- Enquiries arrive by form and email far more often than by phone.
The searches that matter
Replace [suburb] with the areas you actually service.

- knock down rebuild [suburb]Planned work
Very high value, strongly review and photo driven.
- granny flat builder [suburb]Planned work

- duplex builder [suburb]Planned work
Investor-driven, business-hours searches, high job value.
- home renovation cost [region]Research
Top of funnel. A genuine pricing guide page wins these.

The demand calendar

Strongest enquiry period of the year as owners plan the year ahead.

Enquiries convert to contracts; end-of-financial-year investor activity.
July – September
Quieter enquiry volume — the right time to build content and collect reviews.
October – December
Pre-Christmas completion pressure; new enquiries slow from mid-November.
What we do differently for builders
- 01A page per project typeExtensions, granny flats, duplexes and knock-down-rebuilds get their own pages. One combined 'services' page cannot rank for four separate markets.
- 02Project galleries with location contextEach completed project written up with the suburb, scope and timeline. This is the single most effective content a builder can publish.
- 03Licence and insurance surfaced earlyNSW builder licence, home warranty insurance and public liability displayed on the profile and site, because buyers check.
- 04Review requests timed to handoverBuilding reviews are hard to collect because projects run for months. We build the request into handover so it actually happens.
The honest constraint
Builders should expect a longer runway than any other trade — three to six months before enquiry volume shifts meaningfully, because the buying cycle itself is that long.
Questions builders ask
- Why does SEO take longer for builders?
- Because the customer takes longer. Someone planning an extension researches for weeks or months. Rankings can improve in six weeks, but the enquiries from those rankings arrive on the customer's timeline, not yours.
- Are project photos really that important?
- For builders, yes — more than any other trade. Profiles with substantial recent project photography get materially more profile interactions than those without. Real photos of real jobs, not renders.
- Should I target 'granny flat builder' separately?
- Absolutely. Granny flat demand across Blacktown, Fairfield and Liverpool is enormous and it is a distinct search market with far less competition than general building terms.
- Do I need to display my builder licence number?
- You should. It's a legal requirement in advertising in NSW and it also removes a verification step for the customer, which measurably improves enquiry rates.
Where demand is strongest
What the work involves
- 01Google Business Profile managementThe one asset that decides whether you appear on the map at all — built out properly and never allowed to go quiet.
- 02Review generation and managementA review request goes out after every job, automatically, forever. The one asset a competitor cannot buy off you.
- 03Local search optimisationSuburb by suburb, street by street. We measure where you are actually invisible, then take that ground back.
- 04Website design and buildYour quote gets judged before you open your mouth. This is what does the judging. Built free, before you pay a cent.
